STACKING 101: EARRING EDITION
Earring stacking is generally much easier than bracelet and necklace stacking, purely because there's less real estate. However, there are three key considerations to keep in mind.
NO MATCHING REQUIRED
Not every piercing needs to match. Try wearing the same earring in your first piercing to create cohesion and different styles in the second or third.
The same applies to metals. Mixing yellow and white gold adds subtle contrast and keeps a stack from looking too uniform. Try integrating at least one white gold earring into your yellow gold earring stack.
CONSIDER PROPORTION
Balance is key. As a general rule of thumb, make sure all earrings are within the same size range.
If you're wearing a larger stud or statement earring in your first piercing, keep the earrings that follow a bit understated.
The exception is if you're wanting to make a statement. Repeating larger earrings throughout the ear can create a bold, high-impact look.
PLAY WITH MOVEMENT AND LENGTH
Mixing silhouettes creates dimension.
Create a stud with a huggie or add a drop earring for movement and length. Even a small amount of movement brings interest to the stack and helps it feel more dynamic.
In each stack, I have at least one dangly earring, one huggie and one stud then work from there.
